A group of doctors interested in Diabetes and Metabolism updates
Formation of the Metabolic Club
In 2009, a small group of doctors interested in Diabetes and Metabolism updates formed the Metabolic Club with the intention of conducting monthly CME programs. This marked the beginning of a dedicated platform for learning and professional development in the field.
Successful First KumbMetCon Conference

In 2014, the Metabolic Club organized its first-ever annual is professional conference, the meet KumbMetCon.And The conference saw a remarkable turnout of 275 delegates from across Tamil Nadu, highlighting the growing interest and importance of the club's initiatives.

Embracing the Regional Language
The 6th year annual conference in 2019 marked a significant shift as it was conducted entirely in Tamil, the regional language. Both participants and speakers expressed great enthusiasm for delivering presentations in Tamil, with feedback indicating that learning in the local language enhanced comprehension, even when it involved complex statistical information. This decision led to a continued practice of conducting conferences in both Tamil and English, enriching the content and inviting speakers from other states.
Metabolism refers to the chemical processes that occur within an organism to maintain life. It involves the conversion of food into energy, the synthesis of molecules needed for growth and repair, and the elimination of waste products. Metabolism can be divided into two main processes:
1.Catabolism: This process involves the breakdown of larger molecules, such as carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, into smaller units. During catabolism, energy is released, which can be used by the body for various functions.
2.Anabolism: This process involves the synthesis of larger molecules from smaller units. Anabolism requires energy and is responsible for the growth, repair, and maintenance of body tissues.
Metabolism is regulated by hormones and enzymes, which control the rate at which chemical reactions occur. Factors such as age, gender, body composition, and physical activity level can influence an individual's metabolic rate. A higher metabolic rate generally means that the body burns more calories, while a lower metabolic rate may result in weight gain.
